Automated e-mail when a user is banned

What do you all think of having a text box on the ban screen, with an editable automated email that will be sent to a user once he/she has been banned? There would be a check box, that would have to be marked, since the email should be optional. What do you all think? (I know IPB has this)

Would make the jobs so much easier.
It would also be nice to fill out a short form or have a quick form for the reason of them being banned. such as drop down menu's with additional options. "reason for being banned" ..
1. Consistent Spamming after being warned multiple times
2. Abusing members/ or team members..
3. Posting Illegal images~Kerrang!

There is already a field to enter a reason for banning in MyBB 1.2, and I doubt that it'll be removed in 1.4.

ONce a user is banned they can see they cant log in why add insult to injury, why not jsut move on? why send an email telling them something they already know, why antagonize the former member that they cant log in? what if they jsut re register with a differnt ip or behind a ip changer thingymabob? that jsut promotes more animosity or vengence, if one really thinks about it!
thats like sending a former employer a im not working there no more letter, after he fires you or you quit!
duh
it seems no sense in doing something redundant!
I rather somone be gone than to have the idea to get back on and casue further problems, out of sight , out of mind! -

I personally think it's a good feature to have and keep. I mean it would allow administrators and moderators to go into further detail and even give them a chance to reconcile with an agreement.
