Easier MyCode Editor

The current MyCode is far too difficult for a novice user to pick-up on. Could we perhaps use replacement variable's (for exampe: {param} and {option}, like vBulletin)?

At the very least, perhaps a link from the MyCode editor to a preg_xxx reference?

  1. Against. The more advanced users would be annoyed by the less amount of options and the change of MyCode. If you've worked with a software for years you wouldn't want the way it works changed. Unless this is required or normal for that software. But it isn't for MyBB. And, also, the developers (Chris Boulton, Musicalmidget etc.) would have to work on that ages, just for a few newbies. And, I mean, I had a first time too, and now I am an expert. You see, it's far two difficult to redesign a programming language. And, as I said, at some point everyone's new, and then, at another, everyone has adapted to MyBB and the way it works. So, again, a very clear:

    I know that wouldn't take a great deal of time to implement.

  3. I actually agree that there should be a Wiki page or something about how to create custom MyCode. I prefer the current setup because, as you said, it is more configurable to those who are using it for advanced purposes. But it is quite confusing to a beginner.
