Im the last poster in a thread, and it is too early to bump the thread or double post with new information, i will edit my post.. but who knows that i did that and that i have included new details in my post? therefore this person who had looked before at my thread will not visit it again to check the new info (ex. Computer support forums where you need to display a lot of scan results and debugging).

A solution for this can be an "act like new post" or "reminder" or "mark it edited" tool, where during editing you can check a check box that will show this thread as updated, or as it has new post in the threads list.

  5. This is quite similar to the "bump" button idea that was going round the MyBB Forums a while back, and that got a lot of support. This idea is even better though :P

  6. This can also be limited (optional) by the condition of the edited post being the last in the thread, just to ensure that nothing gets abused.

  7. i really like this idea. it is something that annoys me regularly when people can't see it isn't updated so doesn't look.

  8. its a good idea, but how are you going to moderate it's use?

  9. Well tiki as i have mentioned before..this feature can be restricted to only posts that don't have a reply after them.
what do you think ? we can also add X number of use per post.

  13. Are you not allowed to bump your post after a certain time period?

    DennisTT, 11th March 2007, 10:52:21 PM
  14. Let's get over bumping:D and have a feature by its own..

  15. How about you limit it to say an hour after the last post in the thread, that could stop double posting due to people not thinking others will see their post.

  16. Great idea, but I'd want it without any restrictions (forget the last post, the one-hour limit, etc.) Those types of restrictions would render it useless in some cases.

Let's say, I have a thread announcing parties. The first post is mine, with lots of parties. The next 20 posts are other people letting me know about new stuff to add into my post. I add it. Well, then three days later, I discover another party coming up and want to add it into my first post, but with the restrictions, I have to actually bump the thread too, right? Phooey. Me don't wanna have to do that.

  17. Like if you check the box to show it as edited, instead of adding much, just add an image in front of the title..Like one that is small and says "^Dated", etc. but with some style..But yah, is a good idea
