If i am logged as an Administrator and viewing the index page or any forums list i should be able to do the following inline.

1 - Reorder the forums and sub-forums by drag and drop.
2 - Rename them inline with a double click on their titles.
3 - Change their description the same way as changing the title.

Beyond "imagination" extra features to this (optional to my idea)
1- Right click and choose from a menu whether to edit the forum options or permissions.
2- To add new child forum.
3 - Directly and inline add new categories or forums with "default" options and permissions that can be changed later.

  1. 1) Love it...like Google Homepage stuff :P
    2) I think a click+hold would be better since it is more familiar (thread name changing etc)
    3) Again, click+hold would be better.
    4) I think something like this is a bit unnecessary ...plus, we can't have too much javascript on the forum index!!!

  2. Yeah double click or click hold the important is to have inline things.

  3. Ugh AJAX Overload!

However much that would be cool, it would take as long to load at it does for the new Yahoo Mail

  5. Just wondering, how often do you "rearrange" (by "rearrange" I mean the stuff you listed in the idea post) your forums?

Personally I haven't edited the forums on my boards for at least a few months. If I need to edit them, they wouldn't be more than one or two changes. Looking at the MyBB Community forums, all that has changed in the past year are the new bug reports archives for each version, the Merge System beta testing forum, and the link to MyBB Ideas.

Point is, I'm not sure if the number of times these functions are used justifies them to be integrated into the front-end.

  6. No my point is that we don't use them much that's why they won't make a big load always. referring to Tiki's comment.
