Make a mod auto installer like in SMF, you can download a compressed archive, then upload like the package manager in SMF, everythings uploaded and files are edited.

This would be a great MOD and help us all greatly.

There is a plugin planned which would allow something along these lines. I'm not sure whether I like the sound of it in the core package however.
I'm curious to hear people's thoughts.

It would be nice for there to be core functions to modify a file from activating/deactivating a plugin though, but then yeah there's a big chance for something unexpected to happen with these type of things.

I'd like that- I hate editing stuff. X_X

I doubt this will work seamlessly when alot of plugins are installed and lots of editing needs to be done.
For example Plugin A modifies usercp.php, then Plguin B is loaded and searches for the place to inject its code but can't find it because Plugin A modified it... -

@ Sp33d: In that case, manual file edits wouldn't work either so this would have no disadvantages.

What's the name of the mod that does this?

@Origin, the manual edit could still work, you'd just have to know where the line used to be.

I don't like this idea to be honest. I think it'd just end up landing the MyBB team with a lot more support threads from users who failed to backup their forums before installing a mod; besides, that's what the plugins/hooks system is here for. Just my 2 cents ;)
