I quite like the layout and features of the IPB profile page
http://forums.invisionpower.com/index.ph...user=61416 . While I am not suggesting a carbon copy of it, I do think that some of the features would be useful, such as the Friends and Last Visitors, as well as the Topics and Posts integrated into the page.

  2. I do like the "tab" features that IPB has, and that you can leave comments. If this doesn't become a feature then it should be made into a plugin.

  4. I've always thought that the new style profile pages in IPB make it look more like a social networking site than a bulletin board. Friends, comments, latest visitors and so on don't strike me as essential features for a discussion board. Rather, they make ideal features for a plugin/modification.

  5. I've seen the new IPB Profile in version 2.2, I think it's a step in the right direction.

    For MyBB I would call it: "Members Network Profile" (MNP) Illustrated/Highlighted with a small (80x80 pixels) MyBB, MNP Logo).

    "The whole idea is to transform a dull looking Members Profile page into a much nicer presentation"

    I suggest Adding;

    > "Friends List" with links to their Profile, make it easy for people to meet new friends who can be added to the Members Network Profile

    > "12 Recent Topics/Posts" by the member, with 15 word excerpts displayed of the actual posts and links directly to the topic page.

    > "Members Personal Mini-Photo Gallery" displaying up to 12 Photos that are all auto-resized for oversized photos make Admin setting for 3 size options: 150, 200, or 300 pixels max' all photo can externally linked or upload from a members computer.

    > "Privacy Option" allow members to make their Members Network Profile private or not (Guest/Unregistered can or cannot view option)

    > "Mini MP3 Player" so members can add "one" externally linked audio file. Admin control settings: Externally linked or uploaded from a members computer. Or Turn feature off or on.

    All these features can be made as a plugin!

    All the features in the Members Network Profile can be beautifully displayed conveniently on one page, but if some people don't like the idea, then have the option for Admin or Members to turned it all off, or turn off any one particular feature at the flick of a Click. Hehehehehe

  6. Those things above should be plugins/mods. MP3 player and gallery isn't something that is important to a discussion board. Privacy option might be a more useful suggestion though.

  7. Like I said; "with the option to turn ON or OFF any one particular feature" this will make it suitable for ALL board administrators and their particular type of community :)

    Of course, and I understand some people might not want an MP3 Player and Mini-Photo Gallery integrated into their community board, yet for a Professional Talent Artist Community with well over 64,000 members there is no doubt that having an MP3 Player and Mini-Photo Gallery would be a fantastic idea, and indeed it would be a very useful and important option well worth considering :)

    It would be nice to have a column for recent reps and users buddy list on the profile

  9. I like the idea of expanding the profile page, but the admin needs the ability to disable any of the new widgets / components.

  11. Neg, I really don't think a profile page like this is useful. As has been said before, the best time for it is on an already large site. Not things like just 1,000 users, but active numbers of users over that. I'd rather that the MyBB staff focus on improving the core package and theme with more useful things for all communities of any size.

    I think the request sorta blurs the lines between a forum, and a social networking site. IPB has gone off the deep end, IMO, and I hope that MyBB doesn't follow.

  15. I like it, it is useful in a forum, a forum can be a place of meeting new people, hence 'ONLINE COMMUNITY'. My forum is an online general forum so it would be aace to have such a feature, it would put MyBB way infront of everyone else if they improve with advanced features such as this. Maybe even past the likes of vB ;)
