reason for edit

i think there should be a reason for edit so when a admin or mod edits a post oyu can put why you edited it so all members and that can see why it was edited and it all so should have a bit in the admin cp set like who can use the reason for edit.

1. It'd be great if it was modeled after how vB does it. They have it in both quick edit and full edit.

3. The soft-delete option of VB is very handy. I am not sure if this shouldn't be in Mybb v2 though.

5. I think this is an excellent idea.

6. Agreed with Kodaks. If I had to choose between thread description and edit description, I'd go with edit description hands down :)

7. I would also like to see this idea. I'm tired of typing "Edit: Blah blah blah" all the time...

8. I'd like to see this as well.

11. yes i see 31 vote's for this i think it woud be nice to have this i was looking at phpbb3 beta and i seen there reason for edit and wow they have a nice one so i do hope they make one and with what DennisTT say (Agreed with Kodaks. If I had to choose between thread description and edit description, I'd go with edit description hands down) i think you do not get it like reason for edit is on the page not like the description of a topic lol.

14. I would like to see this as well - even as a plugin :) IT would be good to have this as an option to turn on-and-off too in the adminCP. Thanks!

15. yes i think it should made in to the panel. and it would be nice to have the turn on-and-off as flick said.

16. Great feature!

Makes it simple to tell someone why you've edited your own post or a members.

17. Can't you just add

"EDIT: I have changed..." to the post itself?

18. I would love this feature. One problem with the current system is that if user's have permission to edit posts (as they do on my forum), they just remove my edit notes, or reverse my edit. While I do warn/ban them for this, it's much easier if they couldn't edit my reason for edit in the first place.

19. I like the idea.

20. we i think a lot of people would like this all we have to do now is hope.

crsoft, 1st August 2007, 6:30:40 AM
21. I dislike this idea if it is set by default. It's annoying to have to post why you edited it, just because you made a small mistake.

It needs to be made as a choice, and turned off by default, IMHO.

22. Or you could have it so that it does not have to be filled in. ie. Not compulsory. :)

rh1n0, 2nd December 2007, 7:06:40 AM
23. great! i hope mybb will include this in 1.4

chris_b0ss, 18th December 2007, 3:33:35 PM
24. or it could have setting like only group x can use this or what not but i think it would be good on a forum were mods and admin have to edit other posts a lot saves us having to type mod edit: blah blah

25. This is probably the best suggestion on here! :D A must for the next MyBB release.
