"Remember me"

A simple addition to the forum would be a "Remember me" button. All major forums have them, and it would be very useful. It would be useful to stop cookies being put on a shared computer if you don't want them on.

What do you mean by "remember me" function?

Why would it need it? MyBB already "remembers" a logged in user the next time they visit.
If they want to logout after viewing the forum, they can just click the Logout link.

Yeah we already remember you by default. You can turn this off in the User CP

it's to stop cookies being put on a shared computer if you don't want them on. I think it would be good to have it at the login page because it's more obvious there, and you don't need to first login which puts the cookie on the computer to change the setting.

A better compromise is probably an option in the UserCP, where you can choose how your sessions are stored (ie, the time they last for, and whether they remember after closing the browser).
To make it more obvious, perhaps the option on the register page too.

This should be an option on the login page.
Imagine you're at the library and want to login to your board, but you didn't realise you only had 10 minutes left and suddenly the library system logs you out but you're still logged into you board. The next person along would have access to your account if they logged into you board.
If there is an option to "Remember Me" on the login page, this could be clicked on or off before login. Having it in the UCP makes it too far out of the way for being such an important function, especially if you're not going to use it on a regular basis. A small box on the login page is unobtrusive yet obvious.
At home I have my system remember me forever, when I am on my laptop or at a public computer, I choose not to stay logged in.

I think what johnsmith means is that there should be a checkbox right there on the login form for "remember me." I have had quite a few users ask me why the hell doesn't MyBB allow you to save login information, and then I had to point them to the UserCP. MyBB is the *only* software that gives this as an option in the CP instead of on the login form itself. I'm pretty sure the original poster meant that this change should be made.

I think the checkbox option would be more secure.

It's there:
Edit Options
Login, Cookies and Privacy
=> Remember my login details for future visits. -

I actually agree with having the checkbox on the login. People might not notice it in the User CP. I especially agree with the library scenario stated by nelgin.
