Remove Threaded Mode

I believe I have never seen a forum use the threaded mode as default. It doesn't look good imho and also creates problems with SEO and having duplicate content. Both the links could be removed

Threaded Mode | Linear Mode

Those are on each showthread.php page and imho not needed. It would be nice to just remove the option for 1.4 or 2.0 mybb version.

  1. Search Engines shouldn't dictate how you want your site to look though, and some people do like the threaded mode. I have seen countless tech support forums with this mode as the *only* mode. Sure, none of them were MyBB, but if we want to get tech support people to use software such as this, we're gonna need to keep it in.

  2. Disagree with the idea.

  3. DrPoodle I agree that I see sites using a threaded mode but those are never mybb sites. IMHO if you want threaded mode you use Vanilla which has the best threaded mode around. Have you tried to use mybb in threaded mode? It's horrendous. It's something that might be well to drop support for. At some point it's good to drop unused features as others are added this helps keep the software slim imho. The worst that can happen to Mybb imho is that it gets bloated like VB.

Thanks for your input though. Everyones comments and ideas are appreciated and welcome.

  4. Further to this, the threaded mode is considered a "comparable" aspect of all bulletin boards in Wikipedia:

It might not mean much, but many people use this article to find the best BB for them, and as many "green" aspects MyBB has, the more attractive it looks.
