Sort of like a secondary thread title, for adding info about the thread, sort of like the one that IP.B has (used to be a plug-in for this, but for MyBB 1.0-1.1.0X) More Suitable as Plugin |

I always liked the "Thread Description" plugin in MyBB 1.0. Most people say that all the thread info should be in the thread title, but once you actually start using it, you realise that you can name your thread something short and snappy, and add a description to what the content is about. The name of the thread attracts the person, and long winded descriptive names are not good at this.

I believe this should be kept as a addon or modification, not a feature included with MyBB.

I agree with Kodaks. This should be a modification, not a standard feature.

Why not include it as a feature, but allow it to be turned off/on via the Admin CP? It could be turned off by default.

I agree with the above people who said this should be kept as a modification/plugin. I find absolutely no use of having 2 fields describing the thread when the thread subject can be used to thoroughly describe most threads.

yes this should be a plugin

If it's already a plugin there is no need for it to be a standard feature. Anything that adds to the database and yet isn't required shouldn't be added arbitrarily.

It's not already a plugin. It *was* a plugin for 1.1.x but was never updated to work with 1.2
Edit: Well, I take that back.. apparently it's just recently been updated. Forget I said anything :)

Its a good idea, most times it looks sloppy - cramming it all into one line.
Nothing bad won't happen if you don't fill it in,it just won't show up -

Unless you have a 10 character limit on the subject, you don't need a thread description. I've been on forums that have thread descriptions, and I've never had to use it, and many other threads just had either a reiteration of the subject in the description, or just other useless text.

I agree with the majority here. This should remain a mod / plugin and shouldn't be a default feature with MyBB.

who need a subtitle: it has no real affect on the reader, if the title is catchy enough, people will read it. The only reason why the other forums have subtitles is to increase relevancy for the search engine.

*tries to convince people to remove their vote from this idea*

This idea would be good

No it's not! People can't even use the Thread Subject correctly, how can a thread description help?

Comes in handy sometimes...

Similarly, there are likely to be misuses of a feature like this. For example...
Thread Title: Help!
Description: Help me!To be honest I'm undecided about a feature like this, although I do see both sides of the argument. When used properly it can be very handy, but as has already been pointed out, it's very easy to use incorrectly adding no benefit at all. It's too much down to the individual users of a forum I feel.

well if you do put this in you could make it so it can be disabled in the Admin CP maybe?

Or other example, for Musicalmidget case.
