If another member posts a new message in the same thread just before you, your message will not be sent; instead, you'll be prompted with a warning message:

"Another member has just posted a new message in the thread you are posting. You need checking the new message? Or just continue sending this post?"

I know a feature like this one exists in SMF.. I think that would be nice if you could do that for MyBB.. Thanks.. :)

  1. this also exists in phpbb3 but it would be very good to have it here.

  2. Why couldn't you just make the post and then check the new post and edit your post if you need to?

  3. There is something like this in 1.4

It updates the showthread.php page with new posts using Ajax, so if you were using the Quick Reply you would probs notice it.

But I agree, some kind of warning needs to be issued.

No there isn't. You can add replies to threads through quick reply, and any new posts that were posted between the time you loaded your page and the time you post your reply are detected and added when you post the quick reply. New posts don't just appear, though.

  5. In a hot fast-moving thread, that could get annoying, lol.

  6. I agree with Tikitiki. Don't make things more simplified to complicate matters later.

  7. I like the idea, but it would only be useful for large forums with popular threads.

  9. Maybe this could be an option that can be turned on by the admin if they require it? :) Then it will save on any extra calculation steps when posting a reply.

SMF also has this built-in (I believe) which is quite useful.

  10. Yeah make it optional, user-based and not global.

  11. In fact, I have several forums with popular threads such as games and jokes for learners of English.. While our members are playing those games, it can sometimes cause them mess up :D

If this could be an option that can be turned on for special forums or threads in the admin or user panel, I hope it would be nice to inform the users before sending their posts.. :)

  12. Some sort of live reply system would be good, maybe not a violent alert, but a small amount of bright new reply display colouring could work.
